Transfer Credit
Transfer credit is awarded for courses that have been completed with a grade of C or better at another institution accredited by an accreditation agency recognized by the U.S. Department of Education, provided those courses are comparable to courses offered at the University of New Hampshire.
A comparable course passed with a C grade or better at another accredited institution may be accepted for credit with the approval of the department concerned and the dean of the college in which the student is registered.1 UNH students whose status are withdrawn, leave of absence, or suspended due to academic performance may not transfer credits earned during the period of required separation. Any UNH Student whose status is suspended due to a conduct violation may not transfer credits earned during the first semester of their suspension.
UNH students who are ineligible for participation in a UNH-managed/UNH-approved study away program due to their academic or conduct standing may not transfer credits earned in a study away program to their UNH degree. Students who are eligible must receive prior approval to transfer these credits from UNH Education Abroad/Away by the specified deadlines. Students should contact UNH Education Abroad for more information regarding eligibility.
Grades received in courses for which a student has been granted transfer credit will not appear on the UNH transcript and will not affect the student’s grade-point average2.
1Students are advised to complete a transfer credit prior approval form, before enrolling for such a course at another institution.
2Grades received in courses for which a student has been granted study away transfer credit will appear on the UNH transcript and will not affect the student's grade-point average.
